"本课程是面向我校全体留学生开设的公共必修学位课，旨在向留学生介绍中国历史文化和社会发展状况等基本知识。
本课程要求学生基本了解中国的地理环境特征对农业文明的影响，中国历史各个发展阶段的特征；初步掌握中国传统思想的主要发展历程和代表人物，了解中国人生活的历史变迁；了解中国对世界科技文明的贡献，理解中国文明在世界文明中的独特魅力；初步了解中国的政治制度和发展格局及在全球化中的地位，能以客观、公正、友善的态度认识和评价中国的历史、现状及未来。"
