本课程是英美文学专业的普及课程。
1. 通过对19世纪英国经典小说的文本细读，厘清小说由19世纪早期到维多利亚时期的发展脉络，把握不同文学思潮的不同特点，了解家庭小说、自传性小说、成长小说等小说亚类别的不同风格。
2. 通过阅读重要的批评文献，学习小说阐释的基本方法，构建文学批评的学术话语体系，形成评介重要的作家、作品的能力。
3. 通过阅读19世纪重要的社会、政治、科学等方面的著作，了解小说与工业革命、城市化、女性意识、殖民扩张等这一时期英国的重大问题之间的互动关系。

安帅，北京大学英语系文学博士，2017.9-2018.9于加州大学伯克利分校公派留学，主要研究领域为叙事理论与小说阐释。曾在《外国文学研究》等核心期刊上发表代表性学术论文，主持国家社科基金后期资助暨优秀博士论文出版项目1项，国科大青年教师能力提升项目1项，发表专著一部、学术译著一部。
