教学目的要求
Epigenetics and RNA silencing are two of the hottest topics in the past two decades. Epigenetics is the study of heritable changes in gene expression that do not change DNA sequence.RNA silencing is a general regulation mechanism in eukaryotes that regulates gene expression by 20-30 nt sRNAs in transcription or post-transcription levels. In this Epigenetics, we will introduce how DNA methylation, histone modification, chromatin remodeling, long non-coding RNAs and RNA modification regulate gene expression in eukaryotes. In the second part, we will study RNA silencing on sRNA generation, amplification, loading, action, turnover, and function. The most popular technologies used in Epigenetic studies and non-coding RNAs will also be discussed.

课程教师信息
Xiaoming Zhang is a professor at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. degree from Peking University. Currently, his research focuses on the interaction among pathogens, hosts, and insect vectors in the field of molecular biology, with a particular emphasis on the role of non-coding RNA in host antiviral defense.

Xianhui Wang is a professor at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His dedication lies in understanding behavioral plasticity involved in group living, employing '-omics' technologies in two study models: locusts and bumblebees.

Weiqiang Qian, a professor in the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences at Peking University, obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His current focus is on plant epigenetics, specifically the molecular mechanisms of active DNA demethylation and transcriptional gene silencing (TGS), as well as the function of noncoding RNA-protein complexes in plants.
