教学目的要求
This course will provide comprehensive knowledge of fluidization and multiphase flow with fundamentals and applications related to chemical engineering and energy conversion. A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
o Understand the flow regime of gas-solid flow and state of the art of research and application
o Manage basic calculations and solve practical problems related to fluidization
o have an overview of the modeling approaches
o Design a fluidized bed reactor with preliminary requirement

Wei Wang is a Professor at UCAS and Institute of Process Engineering, CAS. He holds chemical engineering degrees from Sichuan University, China (B.S. 1994; M.S. 1997) and UCAS (Ph.D. 2002). His research interest lies in the field of multiscale modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for multiphase flows. Based on his fundamental work, he developed a commercial software EMMS. His method enables prediction of the choking instability in circulating fluidized beds and helps SINOPEC in the design and troubleshooting of industrial processes of e.g. maximizing iso-paraffins (MIP), a novel diameter-transformed, fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process. He developed EMMS-matrix drag model, which has been included in leading commercial CFD software including e.g., Ansys FLUENT and Siemens Star CCM+.
