The College English IV course is designed specifically to improve students’ ability to read critically and write academically in English. The course aims to help students develop knowledge and skills in understanding a range of authentic academic texts, participating in group discussions, giving presentations, and writing a research report in a concerted effort. The course is mainly instructed in a project-based approach, in which students understand how to conduct a research from scratch to a well-written report step by step under the instructor's guidance. Also included in the course are literacy skills transferrable to other academic activities.

按照教育部2020年最新版的大学英语教学指南，大学英语IV遵循较高要求，通过课堂教学和课外辅导提高学术英语写作水平。

大学英语I、大学英语II

大学英语IV课程共分为四大模块，包括：学术语境(B)，研究问题/假设(P)，解决方案(S)，以及合理性评估(E)。

• 模块一：学术语境(B)为第1-3章节，该部分要求学生了解学术英语文体，正确使用学术语言，掌握搜索、使用文献的方法，能够提取整合文献中的相关信息；
• 模块二：研究问题/假设(P)为第4章节，该部分要求学生了解假设、研究问题、研究目的的写作特点，掌握不同报告词汇的功能，熟练使用学术报告中语言的时态与语气；
• 模块三：解决方案(S)为第5-6章节，该部分要求学生掌握实验设计、方法与过程的撰写结构，能够分析整理数据，撰写研究结果并用图文形式清晰呈现；
• 模块四：合理性评估(E)为第7-8章节，该部分要求学生能够将自己的研究结果与他人的研究进行比较对比，突出自己的研究贡献，掌握模糊词汇以及名词化的使用。

除第一周进行课程描述外，每周均有特定的语言要点和学术素养技巧，按照各自项目的进展，步步深入。第1-5周为选题和文献回顾，第6-7周为提出问题和研究设计，第8-10周为解决问题和结果描述，第11-15周为讨论与评估。第16周进行小组研究口头汇报，同时提交课程论文作为期末评分的依据。

杜垚
