沟通协调是人类社会发展的基础,是效率的保证,也是个人事业成功的重要條件之一。为提高学生的沟通能力,学会建立良好的人际关系,沟通于行,交流于心,开设本课程。

第一章 Introduction 2.0学时 叶先扬
第1节 Communication is a basic life skill, as important as the skills by which you make your way through school or earn a living.
第2节 Your ability to communicate largely determines your happiness and success.
第3节 When you communicate effectively, you make and keep friends.
第4节 You are valued at work . Your children respect and trust you.
第二章 Basic Skills 6.0学时 叶先扬
第1节 Listening--Active, Paraphrasing, Clarifying and Giving Feedback.
第2节 Self-Disclosure-- Self--disclosure may be as scary to you as skydiving without a parachute.
第3节 Observations, (This is the language of the scientist, the detective, the appliance repair person).
第4节 Thoughts, (Your thoughts are conclusions, inferences drawn from what you have heard, read, and observed).
第5节 Feelings, (Probably the most difficult part of communication is expressing your feelings, some people don’t want to hear what you feel).
第6节 Needs, (No one knows what you want except you. You are the expert, the highest authority, on yourself. However, you may have a heavy injunction against expressing your needs).

第四章 Assertiveness Training 8.0学时 叶先扬
第1节 Assertiveness training teaches you to express your feelings, thoughts, and wishes, and to stand up for your legitimate rights without violating the rights of others.
第2节 Assertiveness is a skill you can acquire, not a personality trait that some people are born with and others are not.
第3节 You might have no trouble being assertive with your family, yet find it almost impossible to be assertive with strangers.
第4节 Responding to Criticism
第5节 One of the major reasons people have difficulty being assertiveness that they experience criticism as rejection.
第6节 This is often a leftover from childhood, when you faced criticism from a one-down position.
第7节 There are three good strategies for assertively responding to criticism: acknowledgement, clouding, and probing.

第1节 Everybody negotiates—not just union officials, diplomats, and contractors.

第1节 Successful relationships does not just happen. They are nurtured by the people in them.
第2节 A relationship is based on the couple paying attention to the way the relationship is going, and making changes in how they interact together based on what the relationship needs to keep it healthy.

课程教师信息
叶先扬,早年毕业于台湾成功大学,后赴美国留学,分别在布朗大学、哥伦比亚大学和南加州大学取得了应用数学硕士、工程力学硕士和结构力学博士学位。 1986叶先扬博士加入加州州立大学长滩分校机械工程系,现为该系教授。叶教授还曾经担任过美国核电工程顾问公司的结构及核能工程师、美国太空总署(NASA)资深工程师、美国麦道飞机公司特约顾问等职务。叶教授的研究兴趣主要包括复合材料力学、断裂和损伤力学、结构和机械部件失效分析和设计。
